How I spent my birthday

My day started with a hang over and then being electrocuted. The hangover was from going to a co-worker's good-bye party at Mo's the night before. Had a lot of fun, but stayed out a little too late. The electrocution was from touching my fish tank. evidently the heater had a short in it. So when my fingers touched the water as I fed the mbuna, I got a shock. Naturally I had to touch it again to make certain I had actually felt what I thought I felt.

And then a third time. You know, just to make sure.
I am not always the smartest person I know.

The hardest part was after i removed the offending heater and replaced it with a spare. I knew I had to touch the water again to make certain it wasn't still 'hot'. My hand didnt want to touch it. I think I spent a good minute looking at the water before I finally convinced my hand to touh it again. Thankfully it was no longer a pool of shocking fun. I am sure the mbuna didnt appreciate my touching the electricfied water any more then I did. Thankfully they were all fine.
I then went to work. I do so love working on my birthday. work was work. the highlight was my boss bringing water, Gatorade, energy drinks and doughnuts. He knew what kind of shape we would all be in. :)

When I left work I decided I would treat myself to buying some new cichlids. So i went to Hoffers and bought 10 new mbuna. They are beautiful. On my way out, I decided to be polite and not walk directly into an old lady. She declined to show me the same courtesy. My foot slipped off the curb and i ended up sprawled across teh sidewalk. I was more concerned with not dropping the fish then with stopping my fall. So now I have a giant bruise and road rash across my right arm. the old lady at least had the decency to ask if my fish were ok. They were and are now happily swimming in non-electricfied water.

I then finished the night at teh Red Dot. I was very happy to see that all sorts of people that I hadn't seen in a while show up. I had a really good time and like to think everyone else did as well. Much whiskey was drunk by all. i then went home to get 4 or 5 hours of sleep before going to work.

All in all, I had a good day. But any day that starts with being electrocuted can't be all bad.

New worlds of pain

Just discovered a new one. Pulling you brand new labret piercing back through your lip while chewing a mouthful of burrito. Said burrito was loaded with habenaro salsa (because I am not always the smartest person I know).

Yep, that was a whole new level of mind numbing pain. At least for a few moments. Then the masochist that lives in my head started in with "wow, lets do that again!"

so, to sum up, mind numbing pain followed by a pain induced high. I guess it all balances out.

Which musical counterculture do you fit in with?
created with QuizFarm.com
You scored as Elder Goth

Elder Goths are those goths who entered the scene during either the First (late 70's, early 80's) or Second Dark Wave (early 90's). Ian Astbury is a good example of an Elder Goth, as is Carl McCoy, Andrew Eldritch, or Andi Sex Gang (the original "Goth"). Christian Death, Alien Sex Fiend, Red Lorry-Yellow Lorry, .45 Grave, Bauhaus, Joy Division, Specimen, The Cult (Southern Death Cult/ Death Cult), Sisters of Mercy, Fields of the Nephilim, Mission UK, and other bands of the Batcave era are in the music collection of your (there's no such thing as average) Elder Goth.

Help out a friend of mine

  • Jan. 13th, 2008 at 9:23 AM

Just received an email from a friend of mine asking for donations for her no kill animal shelter in TN. I figured I would repost it here in case anyone else would like to help her out.
It is legit, in that the shelter is real and she really does use the money to help many many animals every year. She is the one that called me one day and said I had to help her give a foster home for the silliest looking little dog I had ever met. I suck at being a foster home, since Mort became part of the family within minutes of my meeting him. So, if anyone out there can afford to donate some money to Bernie, please do so. I have posted her letter behind the cut....
